It is a preemie. It is not fully developed, thus the lack of fur and eyes closed.
However if the mother feeds it and keeps it warm and it lives past 3 days it may make it...but no guarantees.
Was it a single birth? If others in the litter, are they larger?
This would mean that this one was a second pregnancy (they have two active uterine horns) and is 2 -4 weeks behind the others.
Living past the 3rd day is the key. They are just 'bonus' babies. Nothing you did or the mother did wrong.
It is cute though!
